Our Journey: From Obsession to Innovation
If you're wondering whether to entrust your precious backside to a start-up with a few reviews, we get it. We're here to put your mind (and spine!) at ease by giving you a glimpse into our story.
Our journey began in 2019 as a hobby, born from a (healthy?) obsession with cars and sincere dislike for typical, cheap office chairs that so many of us are forced to endure for hours on end.
It all started with an Audi Q5 seat. We took it apart and spent countless hours researching, sketching and 3D modelling designs while experimenting with different solutions. Using some questionable chair components available online, we eventually built something that worked surprisingly well but left a lot to be desired in terms of aesthetics.
From there we dove into finding and testing higher quality components, which proved a lot more challenging than expected. Once we reached a point where we were satisfied with the results, Comfomotive, our part-time business was born.
We bought more seats and gave ourselves a crash course in electrical engineering to tackle powering the ECUs controlling modern car seats with position memory. In comparison, designing wiring looms to ensure safety in the unlikely event of a short-circuit or malfunction, and sourcing high current, compact, long-lasting batteries to power electric motors, was a breeze.
Along the way we learned 3D printing to manufacture custom parts like trims and switch mounts. With gradual improvements the seats not only looked the part but also became much easier for us to design and build. The real challenge was finding enough time between full time work and raising a family to grow Comfomotive into something bigger.
Fast forward to today: with more time, energy and know-how, we decided to make our dream a reality. This is how R3VISION LTD was born, along with our breakthrough idea of making the chairs more affordable by introducing DIY conversion kits.
So, what qualifies us to describe our creations "professionally-designed"? Our background: a Bachelor's in Mechanical & Automotive Engineering, a Master's in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Management, and over a decade of experience working in internationally-recognized, ISO-certified UK-based engineering companies.
In short, we like to think we know what we're doing - and we are ready to prove it to you. Will you give us a chance?
