BMW's comfort seats for the X5 were engineered for one job: covering serious distance without fatigue. Owners regularly report 400+ mile days in these seats and stepping out fresh - that's the brief they were built to.

This chair takes that brief and applies it to desk work.

Trimmed in terracotta red leather with tone-on-tone stitching, it brings genuine BMW craftsmanship to the office - with black nappa armrest pads to match the desk rather than the dashboard.

When nothing else has worked

If you've stopped expecting an office chair to fix your back, this is the one to try.

People with back problems often come to us having been through every chair going. Most tell us the same thing: a full day in the car is fine, a morning at their desk isn't. The X5 comfort seat is one of the two chairs we send them to, and in our experience it has worked every time.

It comes down to how it's built:

No gap at the waistline. The backrest runs down to meet the cushion, so your pelvis is supported instead of rolling back, and your lower back keeps its natural curve rather than slumping – the posture research ties to less pain when sitting for long periods.
Reclined, with the lumbar supported. Research into seated spinal load, car seats included, found disc pressure and back-muscle effort lowest at around 110–130° of recline with lumbar support. Both are electric here.
Your legs take more of the load. Extend the thigh support and more of your weight moves forward onto your thighs, easing load and muscle effort in your lower back.

Add four-way electric lumbar, upper backrest angle and backrest width, and the seat can be set to your back rather than an average one. We don't know of any office chair with more adjustment.

The X5 comfort seat is the opposite of a bucket seat. It offers an open, softly bolstered profile, and because the backrest width and thigh support are adjustable, it fits itself to you rather than asking you to fit it.

You receive the exact chair in the pictures. The seat comes from a very low mileage car and is in near immaculate condition.

Dimensions & weight

Width: The X5 chair measures 70 cm at its widest point (armrests).
Length: The distance from the front of the seat to the back of the headrest varies with sitting angle, ranging from approximately 70 - 90 cm.
Height: Minimum distance from the floor to the highest point of the seat base cushion at the front is approximately 48 cm.
Weight: The chair weighs about 40 kg.

Warranty

We stand by our engineering. If any part of your chair has an issue, we’ll make it right – quickly, at no cost to you, and with minimal hassle.

Your chair is backed by a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

The one exception is the battery on electric chairs. It’s a consumable: if it’s run down below its minimum voltage, it fails. Swapping it takes about 10 minutes and four bolts, and we can supply a replacement for £30.

Returns

Changed your mind? You have 30 days from delivery. We’ll arrange collection by courier at a time that suits you and deduct £100 from your refund to cover the return shipping. The chair must be in the condition it arrived in.
